I would like to introduce my business and myself. I am Becky Carr the owner and operator of Hillside Happy Tails which I established in December of 2006 in South Anchorage, Alaska.
I worked as a geologist in Texas, New Mexico, Oklahoma, and Colorado before I decided to be a full-time mother. In 1987, I moved to Anchorage, Alaska with my husband, two young daughters, two big dogs and two cats and have lived on the Hillside ever since.
I have always loved animals. As a young girl, I spent my summers in Colorado on horse back. Along with horses, I had dogs, cats, birds, rats, rabbits, snakes, toads, guinea pigs, turtles and fish at different times. It has always been important to me to take good care of them all.
Living in Alaska, I have enjoyed walking and caring for friend's dogs when they have been out of town or didn't have time to walk them themselves. I feel strongly about dogs getting lots of exercise. I also feel strongly about animal welfare and helping people provide their pets with the best care. This passion lead me to my current career as a professional pet-sitter and dog-walker/hiker.
My husband Mark has been walking dogs since he retired from the U.S. Geological Survey in 2014. He is a mountain runner, outdoor enthusiast, and a dog lover. Mark offers longer hikes or runs in the mountains for the younger more energetic dogs.
We cannot say enough about the care our dog gets at Hillside Happy Tails. Becky and Mark are so loving and caring, it's more like they are an extension of our family. Our Bella can't wait to get there and doesn't want to leave! You are the best. Thank you.
Hillside Happy Tails is my favorite place. Great hikes, kind people, other dogs to play with. What's not to like. And I LOVE Becky and Mark.
Henry the Hound (and Susan and Libby too)
We have taken our puppy, CJ, to Hillside Happy Tails once a week for a bit over two months now. The owners, Becky and Mark, are kind, wonderful people that make our community better. CJ is a friendly, high energy dog that needs lots of exercise. He loves the companionship of Becky, Mark, and the other dogs and thrives on the walks and runs he gets every time he's there. He cannot wait to get in the door when we arrive and he's happy and exhausted when we pick him up. I would wholeheartedly recommend Hillside Happy Tails to anyone with a dog that loves the outdoors, people, and other dogs!
Becky has been providing a first class service to us and our dearly beloved Nova Scotia Retrievers, Jake and Amber, for more than 2 years. Her care and professionalism have been exceptional. She comes to our home daily and collects the doggies to set forth on adventures all over Anchorage. She is dedicated to our dogs and our dogs are dedicated to her. Indeed, we all adore her. Sharon
Hillside Happy Tails is Max's "home away from home"! Becky does an amazing job of caring for all the dogs as if they were her own. Max loves hanging out and exploring the local trails with Becky and the pack. He always comes home a happy, but dog-tired pup. Becky's calm manner, professionalism and dependability make it so we never have to worry about Max when he is at Hillside Happy Tails! Jenni
Thanks so much for taking great care of our "boy" while we were gone. He's such a sensitive soul we never worry a minute about whether he is happy with you. Pat
Becky has done a great job taking care of my Fiona. Being in the oil & gas business, I often have to put in long and erratic hours. I know my dog is in excellent hands when she is with Becky so I am able to focus on work rather than worry. Becky is very professional and works well with my dog. I know from her thorough daily reports that it didn't take her long to pick up on all of my dog's 'quirks.' I am so thankful that I found Becky and I don't know what I would do without her. Kristin
